Over the past 28 years, my practice has evolved into one focused on several diverse yet interrelated areas.
Representative clients include international and domestic manufacturers and commercial shippers, motor carriers and private fleet operators, comprehensive logistics and multimodal transportation companies, warehousers and distributors of goods, freight forwarders, transportation brokers, competitive telecommunications companies, data centers and ISPs, private equity land development firms, and manufactured housing developers. Representative matters include negotiating and closing various commercial transactions, including business asset sales, purchases and financing, transportation and supply-chain contracts of all types, policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, independent contractor agreements and other labor relations on behalf of the employer, the treatment and protection of intellectual property, IT-related contracts and indefeasible rights of use (IRU’s), and commercial real property leasing, development and zoning. In addition to transactional work, I am an experienced litigator, having represented clients before the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Court of International Trade, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, and multiple federal district and state courts in a diverse array of claims and disputes, including defense against federal and state regulatory actions, commercial equipment financing and lease disputes, high-dollar cargo claims, freight charge and pricing controversies, independent contractor claims, unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secrets, commercial real property litigation, and defense against catastrophic injury claims. I also have significant experience representing clients before federal and state administrative agencies, including the U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Labor, and Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. |
